Braintree is a town which is the former civil parish in Essex, England. The principal settlement of Braintree District is located 16 kilometers or 10 miles northeast of Chelmsford and 24 kilometers or 15 miles west of Colchester. The town had a population of 41,634 according to the 2011 census while the urban area had a population of 53,477 at the very same time. The included urban areas are Great Notley, Rayne and High Garerett.
